Sheridan Dual Credit
This program has "changed my life" "helped me see a better me" "improved my outlook on life exponentially" "given me a second chance" "created an equal opportunity to be successful"
Dual Credits allow students—while they are still in secondary school—to take college or apprenticeship courses that may count towards both their OSSD and a postsecondary certificate, diploma or degree, or a Certificate of Apprenticeship.
There is selection criteria for students to take part in Dual Credit so please connect with your school guidance to see if you are eligible. Students can count up to 4 college-delivered dual credits as optional credits towards their OSSD, if they are successful in Ministry-approved dual credit programs.
Every student has a dual credit teacher/monitor to provide supervision and support from the college and the school board as needed.
Secondary school boards and colleges work together to handle the overall coordination of SCWI activities and and Dual Credit courses.
Dual Credit is part of SCWI – School-College-Work Initiative. The goal of SCWI is to increase the number of Ontario students earning their high school diploma (OSSD). SCWI is funded by the Ministry of Education.
How do I apply?
Talk to your high school Guidance Counsellor, Student Success Leader, Co-op teacher or Vice Principal as your key point of contact for the Dual Credit application process.
See the Contacts page for your School Board contact for any questions.
