Let us help you support your child’s educational success.
Spending time on a college campus in an applied learning environment can be very motivating and energizing. School teachers/monitors, SCWI Sheridan staff, Faculty and college supports all work together to build student success and explore post secondary pathways.
There is no cost. Dual Credit is funded by the Province of Ontario’s School-College-Work Initiative (SCWI) and all costs, including transportation, are covered.

College courses are shorter and more intensive than high school courses and often involve a fair bit of reading and several assignments, projects, tests and exams. Test dates and assignment deadlines are firm and your child may need some coaching and preparation to be sure they understand the type of commitment needed for success. Regular attendance and motivation are important. Most dual credit students are successful, and the dual credit experience usually boosts their confidence and academic skills.

How does the dual credit portion of the program work?
Upon completion of the dual credit program does my child get 2 credits? A credit for high school and a credit for college? How does this work? ANS: When the student successfully completes a college course it means they have a college transcript with this course listed on it. When they apply to post-secondary it may pathway into specific programs and allow them to be exempt from taking it again. Please be advised that the college course they take may not 100% equal an exemption in Post Secondary as it can be dependent upon the program/college the student is applying to. For example, if a student takes a plumbing course, it will exempt them from a course in the full-time plumbing program, but it will not exempt them from a course in the full-time criminology program. If a student takes a general education course for example, Introduction to Anthropology, this course will exempt them from any general education course in the full-time program.
When do dual credit courses run?
Our Dual Credit courses run in the Fall, Winter, Spring, and (possibly) Summer semesters. Please note, these are subject to change upon availability. Please check our upcoming term course offerings.
